Advertising the first shuffle

The first iPod shuffle was introduced at Macworld Expo in San Francisco on 11 January 2005, in 512 MB and 1 GB models holding up to 120 and 240 songs, and described it as smaller and lighter than a pack of gum. The next day MacTech reported that Apple had posted a commercial for it featuring "Jerk It Out" by Caesars. The spot kept the silhouetted dancers with iPods but placed them in front of a lime-green background with moving shuffle arrows, a reference to the shuffle icon.

A Stockholm band, renamed

Caesars formed in Stockholm in 1995. In Sweden they were known as Caesars Palace, a name changed to avoid a conflict with the Las Vegas hotel. "Jerk It Out" was first released in 2002, under the older name, as the lead single from Love for the Streets; on its first UK release it reached number 60 in 2003.

A second run

The song was reissued in spring 2005, with the UK single following on 18 April, and reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart and number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was included on Paper Tigers, the band's fourth studio album, released on 26 April 2005 by Virgin in the UK and Astralwerks in the US. The track has also appeared in video games such as SSX 3 and, as downloadable content, Rock Band 3.
