Album covers instead of silhouettes

In March 2006 Apple released an iPod nano commercial that set aside the dancing silhouettes. Inspired by the album-artwork screen saver in iTunes for Mac OS X, it shows record covers flying around and assembling into a three-dimensional city skyline, then cascading into a swirling vortex and pouring into the top of an iPod nano. The spot ends with "1,000 songs in your pocket" and the Apple logo above "iPod + iTunes". Apple offered it online in QuickTime, including high-definition 720p and 1080p versions and a copy formatted for the iPod. The soundtrack is "Cubicle" by the French electronic duo Rinôçérôse.

The song

"Cubicle" was issued as a single in August 2005 and appears on Schizophonia, released in October 2005 on V2 Records, an album that moved the group towards a more prominent rock groove. In 2006 the song reached No. 40 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.

The duo

Rinôçérôse is based in Montpellier and was founded by Jean-Philippe Freu and Patrice Carrié, who have described themselves as psychologists by day and musicians by night. Active since 1997, the project mixes rock guitars with electronic dance music and writes in English, French and German. An earlier track, "La Guitaristic House Organisation", was used on the soundtrack of EA Sports' video game NHL 2000.
