A psychedelic variation

In early May 2006 Apple began airing a new iPod + iTunes commercial built around "Love Train" by the Australian band Wolfmother. MacDailyNews, reporting on 5 May, described the same silhouetted dancers with iPods and white earbuds seen in earlier spots, now placed against psychedelic background colours with a 1960s-style influence. As in earlier spots, the dancers acted out the song.

From B-side to single

"Love Train" was not on the original Australian edition of the band's self-titled debut, which Modular released on 31 October 2005. Previously a B-side to "White Unicorn", it was added to the international edition issued in 2006. The album was produced by Dave Sardy and recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles. "Love Train" itself was released as the album's fifth single on 18 September 2006 through Island Records and reached number 62 on the UK Singles Chart.

Sydney origins

Wolfmother formed in Sydney in 2004, with Andrew Stockdale, Chris Ross and Myles Heskett as the original line-up. The debut album reached number three in Australia, number 22 on the Billboard 200 and number 25 in the UK, and its track "Woman" won the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in 2007.
