An iPod nano commercial

"The Audience Is Listening Theme Song", the closing track of Cut Chemist's first solo album, was used in an iPod nano commercial. Fan and advertising-archive sources link it to the campaign for the second-generation iPod nano, which Apple announced on 12 September 2006 with an aluminium case in silver, pink, green, blue and black, but no dated Apple announcement of the spot has been found. In a 2011 Rolling Stone feature on musicians whose careers were changed by Apple advertising, Cut Chemist recalled that the commercial went into heavy rotation while he was on a world tour, and that he kept coming across it, first in London and then in Japan.

The album

The Audience's Listening was released on 11 July 2006 on A Stable Sound and Warner Bros. Records. Cut Chemist had left Jurassic 5 in 2004 and spent about 18 months working exclusively on the record, almost a year of it clearing samples. It drew generally favourable reviews, with a Metacritic score of 79, and reached No. 7 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The theme song, 2 minutes 20 seconds long, closes the standard edition.
